This was my third year in a row photographing the Brain Injury Alliance of Washington's big year-end gala, and as always it was a pleasure.
Got to meet renowned actor, singer and dancer Ben Vereen this past weekend! Fun facts: He played the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air's biological father, appeared in "How I Met Your Mother" as the long lost father of Barney's brother, and is Usher's godfather.
Louise Chernin, CEO of Greater Seattle Business Association, called and needed last-minute headshots for her and Martha Davis, Chair of the Board, for the annual reports. I was happy to swing by the office and help!
I also want to give props to Yongnuo's 50mm F/1.8 prime lens I got new for $56 a couple months ago- best lens deal out there.
Thanks goes to emcee Roger Nyhus for the invitation. U.S. House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi after our selfie: "Now that's a real selfie!"
KPLU used my image of Mama Tits hosting last year's Seattle Pride at Westlake Plaza on 22 buses this past month to promote its new program, Sound Effect. Still haven't brushed by one in person. Fortunately, Mama T and some other folks have!
That time when an organization that makes 9 billion a year says they can't pay your low-end quoted rate for use of an image in its annual health and safety report, but then changes its mind after a few days and decides to send me that small check.
Just a couple fun selects and outtakes I should've shared by now! Many more to come but I'm going to sit on them a bit longer until they've been incorporated into the HVTU's campaign materials and website. Thanks to the two dozen individuals who modeled and participated!
Inadvertenty one of the hardest gigs I've ever worked. Early Sunday morning, it coincided with my worst hangover in a long, long time, after going out late after Capitol Hill Block Party with The Stranger's Kelly O as she searched for her weekly "Drunk of the Week" and we became contenders. Slugged it out, had fun, and delivered a batch of 130 images.
And, holy moly, to the left is John Roderick, folks! Former lead singer of The Long Winters- one of my favoritest bands back in the day. Who would've thought I'd be hobnobbing in the same circles with rock stars.
75 selects from this year's big day.
A white wall, a strobe to my right, and two beautiful models - that's all it takes. So far I've only done one shoot at the new studio so far - for Seattle's HIV Vaccine Trials Unit. The Manilas were two of about two dozen volunteers who modeled for the HVTU's latest campaign. Need to start getting into a rhythm of doing more in-studio work. Performer wanting some glamour shots? For $200, I'll make 10-15 of these for you!
