Never in my wildest did I ever imagine I'd end up in a bingo hall with John McCain. But the scheduled stop at Manchester Bingo Center was on the candidate tracker I'd been following, so I showed up. A Boston Globe correspondent was already there and told me she'd asked the lady at the front desk if what seemed too good to be true - that Senators Lindsey Graham and John McCain would be dropping by as part of Graham's presidential campaign - was actually happening. "Yes, I think she's coming," the lady had said. Ha! After not too long, their polished black Suburban arrived. It immediately became apparent that, besides just the few of us, no one had been made aware McCain would be in the building. Half the crowd looked like they were damn near having heart attacks while the rest couldn't be bothered during the current round of bingo. I couldn't stop smiling. And it seemed the two senators were having just as much fun. Meeting John McCain at the bingo hall - by far the best half hour of the year for me.
